Federal Government bans Ogogoro consumption

The federal Government of Nigeria through the Director-General of National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii yesterday Monday 8/5/2015 announced the Ban of Ogogoro Akpeteshi, Consumption In Nigeria.
On the reaction of Dr. Paul Orhii yesterday while briefing the journalists in Abuja, about the death of 38 persons in Rivers State, told journalists that the recent incidents in the state and that of Ode-Irele, in Ondo State were associated with the consumption of locally made gin.






Director-General of National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii however, warned the general public against the consumption of the gin which has turned out to be deadly due to its toxic contents.

Rivers State Administration had already banned the consumption of locally produced gin popularly called Ogogoro Akpeteshi or kai-kai before the Federal governments total ban.
