BREAKING: Tidal CEO Peter Tonstad left Jay Z's streaming service

It has been reported that the interim CEO Peter Tonstad of Jay Z's streaming service, Tidal, has left the company Tonstad, who was on the job for just three months, was named interim CEO shortly after Tidal ditched its first CEO, Andy Chen, in April.

"We can confirm interim CEO Peter Tonstad is no longer with the company," Jana Fleischman said on behalf of Tidal in a statement provided to the Daily News Tuesday. Tonstad joined Tidal in April, replacing then-CEO Andy Chen. Tonstad was previously the CEO of Aspiro Group, parent company of Tidal.

"Tidal will be transitioning to a permanent CEO as part of our strategic plan to create a leading platform, and current executives in New York and Oslo will continue to lead our rapidly developing innovation and content initiatives until our new CEO is in place."
Tonstad, who was the company's former CEO before Jay Z's takeover, also added: "The only thing I can confirm is that I have resigned."

Tidal has struggled to compete with other streaming services since its launch at the end of March. Tidal "will be transitioning to a permanent CEO as part of our strategic plan to create a leading platform," the statement read.

A business controlled by Jay Z bought Tidal for $56 million in mid-March. The music and video service is co-owned by Jay Z, Beyonce, Jason Aldean, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Madonna and others.
