The management of the University of Ibadan , (UI) on Monday 25/may  asked its students to vacate the school premises immediately, untill  the time the problem of scarcity of water and electricity would be resolved by the federal government.

The school management told  the students about the vacation following ‎an advice given by the Committee of Provosts and Deans of the various faculties and for the students affairs to the university’s management.

The Director of Communication of the institution, Mr Muhammed Oladejo ,who confirmed the development, said the management only asked the students to proceed on a two-week mid-semester break.but we all know that the mid semester break is just a cover up statement as is quite unusual for university to go on any mid-break.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that students of Independence Hall of the institution had in the early hours of Monday stage a protest.

The students complained that they were facing hard time as a result  of scarcity of water and electricity in the university premises.

An official in the University of Ibadan, who spoke with NAN, but pleaded anonymity, said, “‎The mid-semester break was declared as a result of power outage by PHCN.

“The outage is also affecting other services on university campus,as it concerns the issue of water and electricity supply thereby causing misunderstanding between the school management and the students, which led them to embark on a protest last time.

“The committee advised the management on the step taken to avert problems as witnessed recently in the protest.
