The Needs For Entrepreneurship Education in Nigeria Institutions

It is not a an issue to debate  about that the needs for Entrepreneurship Education in   Nigeria Institutions is of great importance because of the following reasons.......
1-To change the mindset of the youth
Youth of nowadays believe so much in white collar jobs, that is why when they graduate they go home to sit and wait until they are call for white collar jobs not knowing that they can also be an employer of others but with the teaching of entrepreneurship in Nigeria youths will know that they can be an employer on their own and change their mindset of waiting of waiting of white collar jobs and start investing in what they can do best.
2-To reduce unemployment in Nigeria
The rate of unemployment in Nigeria is high, due to the fact that there are no more vacancy in Nigeria and so many hope on classic jobs in Nigeria and rate of those graduated in Nigeria each are high. But with this teaching on entrepreneurship many (majority) will understand the fact that they can be employed without waiting for white collar jobs and this will reduce the rate of unemployment.
3-Making youths independent by making majority employers of others
The rate of depending youths are much (high) in Nigeria. That is why when they don’t get someone to give them they go into stealing, kidnapping, robbery etc. to survive. But the teaching of entrepreneurship helps them to discover that which they can do best and develop it and becomes independent and employees of others.
4-To reduce the rate of poverty in Nigeria
Many are poor today even when they have the potentials that can make them rich but with the help of entrepreneurship teaching in Nigeria they discover their potentials and work with it and become great in life.

Entrepreneurship is an important factor in the development of any nation. Entrepreneurs are responsible for taking calculated risk that open up doors to progressively higher levels of economic growth. If it were not for them the world would never have known such marvels as the wheels, electricity or internet to name just a few.
Entrepreneurs are the veritable backbone on which the world and modern ideas continue to develop. The magnitude and reach of their contribution however extend much beyond the world of business and economy, and to them goes irrefutable credit for the growth and revolution of societies at large.
Nigeria owe their current prosperity to the collective efforts of intrepid entrepreneurs, on whose innovations also rests the futures prosperity of Nigerians.
The larger rewards of risk taking is starting an enterprise and developing it into a successful business venture, extend well past its immediate beneficiaries. The scope of financial freedom and flexibility that entrepreneurship allows is a means to simultaneous individuals and national prosperity. If this holds true for economics around the world, it has relevance especially for Nigeria which is at the cusp of a new era of progress.
Nigeria is home to people of Ibo culture, an extremely resources ethnic group that is known for its traditional entrepreneurial prowess. Consequently this well-endowed sub-Saharan nation has a strong undercurrent of enterprise running through its veins, which has helped survive and emerge out a long and difficult history.
Inheriting a fortune in oil and gas reserves after ceding from British colonial rule in 1960, Nigerians early regimes banked heavily on nonrenewable resources to generate rich returns. The oil boom of the 70’s marked a period of tremendous national profit an aggregate of more than 600 billion dollars over four decades. However civil strife and political uncertainty spawned an atmosphere of disregard for inclusive growth, eventually bringing about a steady decline of agriculture and traditional industries.
One of the primary reasons why the country struggles to keep up with the developed world despite its considerable human and natural resources is a lack of progressive and holistic policies, nowhere is this more apparent than the case of education.
Entrepreneurship is a key driver of our economy. Wealth and high majority of jobs are created by small businesses started by entrepreneurial minded individuals many of whom go to create big business exposed to entrepreurship frequently express that they have more opportunity to exercise creative freedom, higher self-esteem and an overall greater sense of control over their own lives as a result many experienced business individuals, political leaders, economists and educators believe that fostering a robust entrepreneurial culture will maximize individual and collective economic and social success on local national and global scale.
Entrepreneurship education enlightened the prospective entrepreneur on challenges of obtaining capital for business start-ups. Hence, students and potential entrepreneurs are helped capital options for small medium scale business start-up.
Entrepreneurship education is an important component a creative and innovative society as desired under the innovation human capital development plan, in addition entrepreneurship education program is significant in helping to ensure graduate employ –ability among the graduates of institutes of higher learning.
Entrepreneurship education is aimed at producing graduates from institutions of higher education with the thinking and entrepreneurial attributes, increasing the number of entrepreneurs among graduates involved in business as a catalyst for the achievement of economic transformation of the country from a middle to a high income economy and at the same time produce academics with values, skill, thoughts and entrepreneurship attributes.
Furthermore, entrepreneurship education will inculcate and expose students and potential entrepreneurs to entrepreneurial values and skills, which include aspect of leadership, innovation, creativity, resilience, competitiveness, independence, calculated risk and the ability to identify and create opportunities.
These are some of the reasons that justifies the need of teaching entrepreneurship in Nigeria. To buttress my point further entrepreneurship is the foundation of any developed nation. for Nigeria to reap the full benefits of a dynamic and evolving economy however requires the overcoming of entrenched social, financial and political hurdles, informed government policy, education and international participation are crucial for Nigeria to shake off its third world heritage and achieve the full breadth of its economic potential.
